  28. Could be, but not very likely. I'd take a look at the cable. First, 
  29. though, build yourself a bootable floppy and try to boot from that while 
  30. the CD-ROM is attached and powered up. Make sure you can get to your HD 
  31. Toolbox. Also, check the drive out on your own system (again). If all 
  32. this gives no joy, it may indeed be the External SCSI port. It's on the 
  33. same bus as the Internal connection, the one that the Work: volume uses, 
  34. so problems there would seem unlikely - it does work when the external 
  35. drive is not plugged in, right?
